MANILA, Philippines — House Majority Floor Leader Sandro Marcos has put an end to months of speculation linking him romantically to actress Kyline Alcantara, saying they are nothing more than longtime friends.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the House of Representatives, Marcos dismissed the rumors and clarified that there is no romantic relationship between them.
“She’s just a friend. We’ve been friends for a very long time. No. I’m currently very single,” Marcos said.
He also joked with members of the media, asking if they knew anyone they could introduce to him.
The statement is Marcos’ clearest public response to the dating rumors that have circulated on social media and entertainment circles over the past several months.
How the Rumors Started
Speculation about Marcos and Alcantara grew after online discussions claimed the two had been seen together on several occasions, including reports of a night out in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). The rumors intensified after Marcos was reported to have ended his long-term relationship with actress Alexa Miro, while Alcantara also confirmed her breakup with basketball player Kobe Paras.
Their social media interactions further fueled online speculation, although neither of them had publicly confirmed any romantic involvement.
Kyline Focused on Herself
Marcos’ clarification is consistent with Alcantara’s previous statements about her love life.
In an earlier interview with Boy Abunda, the actress said she is not ready to enter another relationship and is not entertaining any suitors.
“I know for a fact that I’m not ready now because I’m not entertaining anybody. I just got tired of the whole process of getting to know each other again,” Alcantara said.
She added that her current priorities are self-improvement, her family, and her career.
With both Marcos and Alcantara publicly stating that they are single, the long-running dating rumors appear to have been settled. Marcos continues to focus on his legislative responsibilities as House Majority Floor Leader, while Alcantara remains active in television and other entertainment projects.
